NEW TO ANIME? Here are my top 5 picks of 2021 just for you

I love anime and this is why picking only the top 5 series to include on this list was super tough. But hey, someone’s gotta do it, right

5. Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba

This series hit the mainstream in a spectacular fashion. When the series was aired, it went viral with its breathtaking visuals and stunning battle scenes.

After his family is slaughtered and his sister is transformed into a demon, Tan Jerome finds himself taking up the sword as a member of the Demon Slayer Corps all in the hope he can find a way to save his beloved sibling from her affliction.

Another strong point about the Demon Slayer series is the relationship the characters develop with each other. The most obvious example of this is in the relationship built between Tanjiro Kamado and his sister, Nezuko. You can see the two bond heavily during their time together training.

4. One-Punch Man

Say what you will about the rather lacklustre reception of the season of season 2 of the strongest hero’s original outing was pretty much hype incarnate.

Focusing on the antics of a caped crusader with the strength to decimate any villain with but a single swipe of his fist, this series manages to balance crazy action sequences, absurd hilarity as well as the tricky tightrope that is maintaining tension.

Take every anime convention you know and prepare for it to get smashed to pieces with just one punch.

3. Attack on titans

Like a bat out of hell, this series exploded onto the screen and almost got itself a following of hardcore fans.

Blending visceral action, dark fantasy and mature elements that have continued to rattlers over the years, humanity’s ongoing battle against the Titans has managed to carve its other spots as a modern classic among anime lovers.

2. Death Note

What would you do if you were given the power to take a life with just a written word? Well if you light your gummy, you declare yourself as the god of the new world and start wiping out everyone perceived to be wicked.

This not only opens up the flood gates for the hard questions revolving around the concepts such as justice and virtuous violence but also one of the greatest mind games in anime.

On one side, you’ve got light in his murderous crusade as Kira and on the other, you have the world-famous detective known as El. Two geniuses locked in a mental battle where losing equals death

1. Naruto

With fights so creative, the world so unique, and relatable emotions for many, Naruto is everyone’s favourite knucklehead ninja. There is so much more to the narrative than just what meets the eye.

Naruto is by far the most heartfelt manga and anime out there. This has a lot to do with the dark and depressing beginnings of the main character.

The series shows how the loneliness and abuse from the whole world around him doesn't stop him from chasing the biggest dream in all of the ninja worlds. The dream to become the next Hokage.

Dealing with and overcoming personal trauma that was thrown upon oneself beyond their control, Naruto is a series many can relate to and perhaps find inspiration to keep moving.

Its story and more that is featured in this great series make Naruto the most inspiring series out there.

Naruto is one of the most renowned anime ever launched. Just like DBZ and Pokemon, Naruto is an older anime, a series many of us grew up with. This is one of the factors as to why the show has grown to be loved so immensely.
