What if all the social media platforms disappeared?

Pretend for a moment that you wake up one morning to discover all social media platforms disappeared. Would this be doomsday for us all?

A study suggests that half of the children who are aged between eight and seventeen years have social networking profiles like Facebook, Instagram, etc. Not only young people, but people of all ages, and all professions are using social networking sites as a means of communication.

Social media has changed the way people imagine, experiment, and live their lives. It allows the exchange of user-generated content like data, pictures, and videos.

So yes, if the social media platform disappears, it will be a doomsday at least for many of us.

So what if social media platform disappears one day and how would it impact the world?

  • Firstly, All that creative money the influencers have been earning will all drain out and many people would be unemployed.

  • Online businesses and startups will start losing their business with zero social media ads and no customer interaction.

  • Businesses will switch back to the old method of marketing like newspaper ads, posters, etc.

  • We will switch back to the old television and newspapers to learn things that go around the world.

  • No place to start a trend or to even see one.

Social Media has given many people job opportunities. Most of the people you know are working in a sector related to social media in a way or another. Social media is a universe with infinite doors of opportunities. And people have been able to knock on the right doors to unleash their creativity.

If apps like Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, etc., never existed, people wouldn’t be as creative as now, individuals wouldn't have discovered their talent, and many brands wouldn’t know how to market themselves properly.

What's next? How would we overcome this?

We can say that a part of us would be living in peace as we wouldn’t be exposed to the number of arguments we go through almost every day.

According to GlobalWebIndex’s Flagship Report for 2019, users spend an average of 2 hours and 23 minutes per day on social media.

With no social media, we would have more time for the things we love, have more time for our friends, family, and our social life and activities.

No one can bully you through comments on your posts, on your content, or your ideas. With the end of cyberbullying, you also wouldn’t see or buy any fake news and rumours that can make some people’s life a living hell.

We have to admit that it would be calm and peaceful since many times we get this feeling of having a “me” time and a little bit of isolation. We would take our time but yes, we would adapt and overcome this situation too.

NEW TO ANIME? Here are my top 5 picks of 2021 just for you

I love anime and this is why picking only the top 5 series to include on this list was super tough. But hey, someone’s gotta do it, right 5. Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba This series hit the mainstream in a spectacular fashion. When the series was aired, it went viral with its breathtaking visuals and stunning battle scenes.  After his family is slaughtered and his sister is transformed into a demon, Tan Jerome finds himself taking up the sword as a member of the Demon Slayer Corps all in the hope he can find a way to save his beloved sibling from her affliction.  Another strong point about the Demon Slayer series is the relationship the characters develop with each other. The most obvious example of this is in the relationship built between Tanjiro Kamado and his sister, Nezuko. You can see the two bond heavily during their time together training. 4. One-Punch Man Say what you will about the rather lacklustre reception of the season of season 2 of the strongest hero’s origin...

THE PANDEMIC EFFECT ON INDIAN BUSINESSES

HOW DID COVID-19 IMPACT THE BUSINESSES? A whopping 67 per cent of small businesses and startups in the country are shut down or scaling down due to the COVID-19 Pandemic. The second wave of Covid has left a trail of death and destroyed, ruined many businesses and start-ups. People have suffered huge losses both on professional and personal fronts. While stories of newborn and young children left without parents grab news headlines, the stories of companies where the founder has suddenly passed away because of Covid and left the company grappling for survival is no less worrisome. Compared to January 2020, 57% of businesses are closed. However, there are a few industries, that have not only survived but have been able to capitalize on the opportunity swiftly. The global economy is counting on these industries to revive the markets. 1. Online Education & Remote Learning The lockdown has provided many of us with the time we have been wanting to invest in ourselves. With mor...
